a few days back while waiting for zhenying and the rest, i sat outside the library with shihui and linming. we saw snails. we were watching at their movements and were so amazed that they are so flexible. we noticed a smaller snail and its shell was much smaller compared to the adult snails. we were thinking where did they get the shells? linming thought, when the shell is too small, it drops off and look for a smaller one. i got home and did some research.
the shells of the snails are made of the same kind of material as the shells of oysters and clams. if the shell is broken the snail can usually fix it. but if it is broken badly and the snail cannot fix it, the animal usually dies. snails will die if their bodies get too dry. if they feel that this is about to happen, they go back into their shells and close the opening with a thin flim that keeps moisture inside. an adult snail has more spirals than a baby snail has. snails have shells when they are born. as snails grow, their shells get larger and the number of sprials increases.

while looking back, things haven't seems to leave me yet. they are still living with me all the while. they are so childish. they are so meaningless. when will all this stop? when will empty promises stop?
